Swansea's bid for Graham accepted

A few weeks after becoming the first Welsh club to secure promotion to the Premier League, Swansea City appear to be on the verge of breaking their transfer record with a £3.5 million move for Watford striker Danny Graham.

The Swans have been given permission to speak with the 25-year-old as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of the new season.

Graham, who led the Championship scoring charts with 24 goals, has already attracted interest from several Premier League sides including Norwich City and QPR, both of whom also earned promotion to England's top flight.

The prospect of the 6' 1'' frontman being reunited with Swans boss Brendan Rogers - having previously worked together at Vicarage Road - also could play a role in the deal.

Despite one year remaining on his contract at Watford, Graham has been firm in his desire to play top-division football and said at the end of the season: "I'm contracted to Watford, I love it here, but I'm not going to lie or kid anyone, I want to play at the top level.

"If that happens, it happens. If not, and another Championship club comes in, I'm not interested. I want to be a Premiership player, I'm not going to hide the fact, but we'll see what happens."
