Fulham have appointed Martin Jol as the club's new manager on a two-year deal.

The Dutchman - who has had previous managerial spells at Tottenham, Hamburg and Ajax - agreed terms of a contract on Monday evening.

It is an initial two-year contract, with the club retaining an option for a third.

"I am very happy to join Fulham Football Club, a wonderful traditional club," Jol said. "It is a club with good, solid foundations and a great fan base.

"I am looking forward to being part of the Fulham family and thank the chairman for the trust he's shown in me."

Jol will arrive at the club's Motspur Park training centre ahead of the players' return for pre-season training later this month.

The club had been looking for a new manager for less than a week, after Mark Hughes decided to exercise a break clause in his contract that allowed him to leave Craven Cottage.
