Welterweight Matt Brown has stepped in to fight John Howard at UFC Live 4, after Howard's original opponent Martin Kampmann was forced to withdraw through injury.

The contest is set to be a tense affair, with both fighters desperately in need of a victory to secure their UFC careers.

Brown, 30, has been beaten (by submission) in his last three fights inside the Octagon, after starting his UFC career with four wins and just one defeat.

Howard, meanwhile, has lost his last two fights - to contenders Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger - to end a prior four-bout winning streak.

Brown's own scheduled opponent for the event on June 26 in Pittsburgh, Rich Attonito, will now face Daniel Roberts.

The event at the Consol Energy Center will be headlined by yet another welterweight contest, as Nate Marquardt makes his debut at the class against Rick Story.

That fight has also seen turmoil, after original fighter Anthony Johnson was forced to pull out through injury, leading to Story's elevation.
