John Heitinga has spoken of his frustration at missing out on Europe and has admitted he could be lured away from Everton.

Everton ended the season in decent form but the lost ground at the start of the campaign resulted in them finishing seventh.

Heitinga, who has signalled his intention to return to Ajax at some stage in his career, has made it clear playing regularly in the Champions League or Europa League is a priority.

"I feel annoyed at having the day off when I am on the couch watching Champions League football on Tuesdays or Wednesdays," the Dutchman said. "It's the same on Thursdays with the Europa League. European football is a really big miss for me.

"But I am ruling nothing out this summer. I have three years left on my contract and could see it through. But a new possibility could come up. In that case I will think about leaving."
