Wenger can't lose Arsenal fans - Gazidis

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has promised to deliver a busy summer for the club on the transfer front, but has warned Arsene Wenger that he cannot lose the support of the club's fans.
The Gunners endured another season without a trophy despite showing immense promise. There are suggestions the current squad could be broken up, with star men Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri linked with moves away from the Emirates.
Arsenal fans are fearful the club may lose further ground on their rivals but Gazidis is determined to overhaul things in order to keep the club competitive.
"We had a season that promised a great deal but in the end a familiar story began to tell itself," Gazidis told the Arsenal Supporters Trust.
"It is very clear we had some shortcomings and we are going to see some turnover of players.
"As Arsene has said, it will be a busy close season for the club."
Wenger has the backing of the club's board but Gazidis has insisted the Frenchman's future could be put into doubt if he loses the support from the fans.
"Arsene is ultimately accountable to the fans," he said. "If you are seeing the relationship between the fans and manager break down over time that is unsustainable. But I don't think we are anywhere near that."
