No regrets for Torres despite miserable season

Fernando Torres insists he does not regret joining Chelsea despite admitting he endured his worst season in the Premier League.

The Spaniard made his £50m move from Liverpool to Chelsea in January after a slow start to the season at Anfield.

And just one goal in 18 games for Chelsea saw him suffer a miserable start to life at Stamford Bridge, as Carlo Ancelotti's men saw their title challenge fade away.

Torres admits he never reached 100 per cent for either Liverpool or Chelsea, but is determined to put a disappointing season behind him.

"For me the past season was the worst since I arrived in England," Torres said in the Sun. "The injury I sustained at the end the World Cup damaged my performance and made things more complicated than at any time in my career.

"Twelve goals in all in a season is nothing for me. Never during the season did I play to 100%, neither for Liverpool or Chelsea. So I prefer to forget what happened. But I am not sorry I signed for Chelsea. I am convinced that when the Chelsea machine is at its full rhythm we will be very difficult to beat."

Torres struggled to connect with fellow frontman Didier Drogba, but the Spaniard insists the pair can strike up a successful partnership.

"I do not have problems with Drogba," he said. "Sincerely, I am very connected with Didier. He is a sensational footballer and our possible rivalry is positive for Chelsea.

"I see many goals coming and that will give us significant success. Manchester United are the champions but I insist that we are the main candidates to take their title."
