Wickham 'on brink of Sunderland switch'

Ipswich striker Connor Wickham is on the brink of a move to Sunderland, with widespread reports suggesting he will be in Wearside for a medical on Wednesday.
Sunderland are understood to have tabled a bid in excess of £8 million, potentially rising to £13 million, for the 18-year-old, who has been heavily linked with Liverpool.
Wickham, who has three England Under-21 caps to his name, scored 9 league goals in 24 stars for Ipswich last season.
Birmingham midfielder Craig Gardner is also in line for an imminent £6 million move to Sunderland, one month after Blues were relegated to the Championship.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is desperate to bolster his squad this summer, having already sold midfielder Jordan Henderson to Liverpool for a free that could rise to £20 million.
