Patrice Evra believes Manchester United's latest signings can help the club to win the Champions League.

It may still be relatively early in the summer, but Sir Alex Ferguson has been extremely active in recruiting Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea for a combined fee of over £50 million, while further additions could be on their way.

And though Evra is keen to retain the Premier League, he's also determined to win another Champions League and feels that the squad's new signings could be key to any such plans.

"I think they are great signings," he said. "We will give them a nice welcome. I think they'll be important and I'm very confident about the future. After we lost the Champions League final, I said we had lost just a game.

"But I'm confident about the future, especially with our great new signings, and I think we are going to win it next year. We hope to retain the title, but also to win the Champions League."
