Roberto Mancini has hinted that Manchester City may be about to go on a summer spending spree after identifying a host of potential targets in Serie A, though the Italian claimed that Carlos Tevez will remain at Eastlands.

City finished third in the Premier League last season but have been surprisingly quiet since the transfer window opened, with Mancini yet to officially welcome any new additions.

Nonetheless, City are expected to strengthen their squad before the summer is out - with the backing of billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour - as Mancini tries to assemble a group capable of launching an assault on both the Premier League and Champions League titles.

The former Inter boss is confident that club captain Tevez will be part of that challenge for silverware and also revealed that City are in the process of signing Partizan Belgrade defender Stefan Savic.

"Yes, of course Tevez will stay, he is a fantastic player," Mancini said. "There was talk of an exchange with [Samuel] Eto'o but Inter did not want to sell. I would say a deal for Savic has been done, but [Samir] Nasri? No, not yet."

Eto'o and Nasri are two of a number of players linked with City, who appear to have failed in their bid to sign Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez, and Mancini set the transfer rumour mill into overdrive when listing several Serie A stars he would be keen on bringing to the City of Manchester Stadium.

"I like Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marek Hamsik and Edinson Cavani," Mancini said. "I like Javier Pastore a little less. Then, when I think of Udinese, I can think of Pablo Armero and Mauricio Isla. And I must say Antonio Di Natale. It's a pity that he is now getting on in years."
