Di Resta pleased with Force India reliability

Paul di Resta admitted he is pleased with the reliability shown by Force India's new VJM06 at the start of testing so far.

Across the first two days of running di Resta has managed to clock up 184 laps in the new car even though he had to hand over to simulator driver James Rossiter for the final hour of day two. Di Resta said that while the reliability was encouraging, he was also pleased with the progress Force India is making in discovering the VJM06's potential.

"It's shown to be reliable," di Resta said. "We've got a lot of laps under our belt, we're getting through the job list, running through the programme and ticking the boxes that we need to. Ultimately this test is not about balancing the car it's about exploring what the car has to offer and gathering the information and tyre data I think to analyse for the upcoming tests. At the end of the day the main job is to get the miles under the belt and keep the car in one piece.

"The feeling's good in the car, I'm very comfortable in it. I think we've been able to explore some good potential in it as we would do as an engineering team. We're only on day two of 12 days of testing and ultimately it's all about just learning it and we're exploring as much as we can with the bits that we have."

With Jenson Button's best time from Tuesday being described by Felipe Massa as "incredible" and then Romain Grosjean going even quicker today, di Resta said he wasn't reading anything in to the times set by other teams.

"You always have to say about the people that are at the front; you never know which fuel level they're on, you don't know what tyres they are using, the same that people don't know where we are. You have to put blinkers on and just explore your car, be very one-sided, get through the job lists that are supplied by the team - at the end of the day it's a learning process for them in correlation back to the factory."
