France fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc has scooped the Top 14 Player of the Year award.

Trinh-Duc scooped the award - voted for by his fellow French professionals - after he played a key part in Montpellier's run to the Top 14 final last season where they came undone against Toulouse. Trinh-Duc was part of the French squad at the 2011 World Cup, but had to make do with a bit-part role in the side with Marc Lievremont favouring a partnership Dimitri Yachvili and Morgan Parra at half-back. And it is Parra's crown that Trinh-Duc takes after the Clermont scrum-half scooped the award last season.

Trinh-Duc is in illustrious company with Byron Kelleher taking the gong in 2008 and Fijian winger Napolioni Nalaga the man chosen in 2009. And Montpellier's run on the night did not end there with their coaching team - consisting of Fabien Galthie, Eric Bechu and Didier Bes - scooping the award for best in that respective department.

Toulouse half-back Jean-Marc Doussain - who made his debut for the French side in the final of the World Cup - was named discovery of the year with Romain Poite taking referee of the year.
