Toulon chief Mourad Boudjellal has described Delon Armitage's 12-week ban as "incomprehensible" and has queried the legitimacy of the claims made against the fullback.

Armitage was slapped with a 12-week suspension after being found guilty of directing abusive language at Leicester supporters after their game on December 7. The Toulon fullback pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled at him - with the other of directing abusive language at supporters during the game thrown out - but the European Professional Club Rugby panel hit him with a lengthy suspension.

The suspension has provoked an angry response from Boudjellal. "It is incomprehensible! This is an extraordinary decision that is based only on allegations of two fans from the opposition where you can legitimately question their objectivity. There's no formal proof, no official document, not even television images to attest to the validity of their testimony."

Boudjellal added the club were considering taking the two supporters to court over the validity of their testaments.
