Defending champions Leinster will be the first team allotted a pool when the draw for the 2012-13 Heineken Cup pool stage is made in at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Tuesday June 12.

They are one of six teams in tier one of the draw that also includes the side they beat in the 2011 final, Northampton Saints, their domestic rivals Munster as well as Toulouse, Cardiff Blues and 2012 Amlin Challenge Cup winners Biarritz.

There are a number of teams in tier two who will feel they have a point to prove when the action starts next season. Former champions Leicester Tigers, 2012 runners-up Ulster and French giants ASM Clermont Auvergne will all fancy their chances of beating a higher-ranked side when the competition starts.

France are the side most represented in the competition with seven teams in the draw. Exeter Chiefs will make their debut in the tournament that reaches a climax with the final at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday May 18.
