Zac Guildford has been suspended for four weeks for a lifting tackle in Hawke's Bay's ITM Cup victory against Counties Manukau.

The former All Blacks winger pleaded guilty after being charged for his tackle on Steelers second five-eighth Cardiff Vaega during the second half of the Magpies' 35-11 victory in Pukekohe last Friday.

New Zealand Rugby duty judicial officer Chris Morris said in that he had indicated a low-end entry point and added two weeks as a deterrent before offering a two-week discount because of the player's remorse, admission of responsibility and clean on-field record.

Guildford will miss the Ranfurly Shield holders' next four ITM Cup matches.
