Former Northampton Saints fullback Bruce Reihana will retire at the end of the season.

Reihana, who won two caps for the All Blacks, was a fans' favourite at Franklin's Gardens and made 218 appearances for the Saints. He moved to Bordeaux-Begles in 2011 but a knee injury has seen him sidelined since October and his club have opted against offering him a new contract.

Reihana had hoped to play on another season which would have potentially given him the opportunity to play alongside his son Evaan who is in Bordeaux's academy but it seems that will not become a reality.

"I am stopping because my contract isn't being renewed," Reihana told AFP. "It was my dream before retiring [to play with Evaan], but it won't be possible now."
