Toulon booked their place in the Top 14 final thanks to a 16-6 win over Racing Metro on Friday night in Lille.

Even though Jonny Wilkinson missed three penalties in the first-half, it was his boot that decided the game as he ended up with a haul of 11 points, including one trademark drop-goal midway through the second-half. Despite Toulon emerging the victors, Racing Metro had more attacking territory but the defence of Toulon stood firm and only leaked two penalties through Jonathan Sexton.

It was a tense affair with neither team really finding much attacking momentum but Toulon took their chance to grab the only try of the game, one that came in the 11th minute of the match. Winger Bryan Habana kicked through and despite Juan Imhoff's best efforts to snuffle out the attack, the ball bounced around and Matt Giteau scooped it up to dot the ball down.

Metro had their opportunities to get a foothold in the match with Toulon having Mathieu Bastareaud sin-binned in the first-half for a tip-tackle on Jacques Cronje, but it will be Toulon who will head to Paris on May 31 for the final where they will play either Montpellier or Castres.

Up next for Toulon will be the Heineken Cup final on May 24 against Saracens so the strength of their squad will be tested with two big finals in seven days.
