Uruguay will take a 31 players to the World Cup who have no prior experience at the tournament after head coach Pablo Lemoine named his final squad on Sunday.

Los Teros, who have just lost a two-Test series to Japan as part of their World Cup preparations, will be captained by lock Santiago Vilaseca.

Only four of Uruguay's squad play professionally in Europe: Felipe Berchesi plies his trade at Carcassonne in France's Pro2, while Agustin Ormaechea (Stade Montois) and Mario Sagario (Massy) play in the same league. Gaston Mieres plays in Italy's Serie A for Valpollicella.

Uruguay have a tough ask if they are to make it to the quarterfinals of a World Cup for the first time: they open against Pool A opponents Wales, before taking on Australia, Fiji and hosts England.
