Bulls make changes in search of elusive win
April 12, 2000

Marius Goosen and Hannes Venter have exchanged positions for the Bulls' Super 12 match against the Chiefs at Rotorua on Saturday.

Goosen replaced the injured Wim Meyer at wing a couple of weeks ago and has probably been the most penetrating of the Bulls backline players. He prefers playing fullback and probably gives coach Heyneke Meyer more attacking opportunities from the last outpost.

Besides the positional switch, there are three further changes to the backline that played against the Reds at the weekend. Wynand Lourens is at last ready to take up his place at outside centre after a lengthy injury lay-off, while the new halfback pair of Jaco van der Westhuysen and Deon de Kock take over from Jannie de Beer and Bennie Nortje.

Among the forwards the only change is the inclusion of Krynauw Otto at the expense of Wium Basson.

Bulls team: Marius Goosen; Hannes Venter, Wynand Lourens, Eugene Meyer, Paul Treu; Jaco van der Westhuysen, Deon de Kock; Schutte Bekker, Anton Leonard, Ruben Kruger (capt), Krynauw Otto, Marius Bosman, Jaco Espag, Naka Drotske, Os du Randt. Substitutes: Henry Pedro, Jannie de Beer, Bennie Nortje, Piet Joubert, Matt Frank, Sias Wagner, Jannie Brooks.
