Wales and British & Irish Lions wing Dafydd James was born in Mufulira, Zambia. James made his international debut for Wales in 1996 and won 48 caps, his last coming at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He is the record try scorer in the Heineken Cup with 29 and has enjoyed spells at Llanelli, Bridgend, Pontypridd, Harlequins and the Scarlets.
In 2001 he placed all three Tests of the Lions' series in Australia, scoring one of their four tries in the opening Test victory. The Lions went on to lose the series 2-1. James' career was beset by injuries in its latter stages, and he was contoversially released by the Scarlets after spending too much time on the treatment table. He finished the 2008-2009 season playing for Bridgend before being signed in the close season by the Scarlets' Magners League rivals Cardiff Blues. After a short spell with the Blues James again moved, this time to Guinness Premiership side Sale Sharks.
