France winger Yoann Huget has been banned for three months after failing to observe anti-doping regulations.

The Bayonne speedster was dropped from France's preliminary squad for the Rugby World Cup at the beginning of August after being charged for repeatedly failing to inform the French Ant-Doping Agency (AFLD) of his whereabouts in order to comply with testing procedures.

And on Friday the 23-year-old, who has won seven caps for his country, was handed the suspension from the French Rugby Federation's anti-doping committee. Huget, who has 10 days to appeal the penalty, will be eligible to return to rugby on November 27, although the AFLD could yet impose their own punishment on the player.

Missing three tests carries the same penalty as a positive test and Huget could have faced a maximum ban of 24 months. Huget claimed the first missed test was due to "negligence" while he put the other two occasions down to him preparing for the France's Six Nations clash with Wales and a last minute photo shoot.
