Top 14 champions Toulouse look set to be without powerful winger Rupeni Caucaunibuca for the rest of the season after he underwent knee surgery.

Toulouse boss Guy Noves revealed the Fijian flyer underwent the surgeon's knife "three or four weeks ago." The winger has been absent from the Toulouse XV after sustaining a thigh injury in their opening clash of the season with Bayonne and is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines - a notion echoed by Noves who said: "You can say that the rest of his season has been compromised."

Caucaunibuca joined the Top 14 side at the start of last season as a temporary replacement for the crocked Yann David but played his way into earning a new deal. And another Top 14 injury-joker - former Australian international Ryan Cross - looks set to join his second club of the season.

Cross started the campaign with Perpignan - playing six times in the process - as cover for the absent David Marty and Maxime Mermoz who were both on World Cup duty and has now joined Racing Metro on a similar deal. He will fill in for the stricken Micro Bergamasco who has undergone surgery on his shoulder.

The Australian centre will be joined in Paris by Pumas winger Juan Jose Imhoff who joins on a similar deal filling in for Benjamin Fall.
