Top 14 side Perpignan have confirmed that Marc Delpoux will coach the 2009 French champions next season.

Delpoux, who played for the side between 1992 and 1996, is currently in charge of fellow Top 14 side Bordeaux-Begles but he has recently confirmed that he will depart from there at the end of the current campaign. And Perpignan president Paul Goze confirmed that Delpoux was his first port of call.

"Marc Delpoux is the first person I contacted," Goze said. "He is my first choice. Our targets will be to be competitive in the Top 14 and to qualify for the European Cup."

Perpignan are currently coached by Bernard Goutta and Christophe Manas who stepped into the void following the departure Jacques Delmas in November and Goze announced his decision to them on Tuesday.

"I thought it was appropriate to make this announcement when we are not involved in Top 14 action but instead the European Challenge," said Goze. "I have also let the players and the coaching staff know they have my full confidence for the rest of the season."

Goze has also confirmed that France hooker Guilhem Guirado has signed a new two-year deal with the side.
