Stade Francais moved clear at the summit of the Top 14 table after hammering Castres 49-13 on an emotional night in Paris.

Before kick-off in the French capital, both sides donned "Je suis Charlie" t-shirts and observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims of Wednesday's Charlie Hedbo massacre.

However, the Stade Jean Bouin crowd were treated to seven tries as Stade Francais ran six past their opponents in a dominant victory. Home captain Sergio Parisse claimed a terrific hat-trick, while Nayacalevu Vuidravuwalu and Jonathan Danty both crossed the whitewash in the first half. Jules Plisson added a further 19 points with the boot.

The visitors were also punished with a penalty try just past the hour mark and Piula Faasalele, Ramiro Herrera and Rodrigo Capo Ortega were all shown a yellow card during the clash. Winger Remy Grosso scored their only try of the evening, with Julien Dumora scoring the rest from the boot.

The night, though, belonged to the hosts as Stade Francais moved five points clear of Clermont until Saturday at least.
