Having long moved on from the Di Patston texting scandal, Kurtley Beale is now eager to settle his playing future. After all, as he says, Beale is paying his agent six per cent to do so pronto.

The off-contract playmaker last month all but admitted he was leaning towards re-signing with the NSW Waratahs and ARU rather than pursue an NRL career or chase the big bucks in European rugby. But he undoubtedly remains a chance of securing one of the ARU's "flexible contracts" which would free him up to enjoy a lucrative sabbatical in Japan, like team-mate Bernard Foley.

Beale, though, was coy when asked if he was eyeing any such arrangement on Tuesday.

"I'm just leaving that up to my manager at the moment," Beale said. "He's doing all the hard work. That's why I give him the six per cent. No, he's doing a lot of hard work. He's doing a great job. I think that will be all done pretty soon."

As for Patston and the part he played in the former Wallabies business manager's resignation from the ARU last year following the bitter fallout from their in-flight confrontation en route to Argentina, Beale says he's all done with that too. Patston and the ARU reached an out-of-court settlement last week, more than six months after the midfielder was fined $45,000 at an independent code of conduct tribunal for sending an offensive text message to Patston on June 9.

"I haven't been thinking about it really. I've just been focusing on my rugby," Beale said when asked if the settlement gave him closure on the saga which also led to Ewen McKenzie sensationally resigning as Wallabies coach moments after almost masterminding victory over the All Blacks in Brisbane last October.

"I was pretty much done when I had to face it [the tribunal]. So from there all I've been worrying about is just my rugby. I haven't been looking into it too much. I've moved on now. I'm quite happy with where I am at the moment, very grateful."
