French bad luck continues

France, who are already without first choice half backs Thomas Castaignede and Phillipe Cabonneau, have now lost Carbonneau's replacement Pierre Mignoni as they prepare for their decisive pool C game against Fiji on Saturday.
The 22-year-old pulled up in training on Wednesday and a scan has revealed ligament damage.
The 23 times capped Fabien Galthie, who had previously played in the 1991 and 1995 tournaments takes his place in the squad.
Stephane Castaignede will now return to the starting line up for the vital game against Fiji. "A black cat must have crossed our path for us to have so much bad luck," Mignoni said.
France need to win on Saturday not only to guarantee an automatic quarter final place but also to restore the confidence of the French rugby public. They have spluttered their way through the tournament with less than convincing wins over Canada and Namibia, following a poor five nations and a summer tour when they lost a test to Tonga.
