Califano appeal fails

French prop Christian Califano has failed in his attempt to overturn his seven-week suspension for head-butting.
The Toulouse prop received the ban after felling Fijian prop Jolei Veitayaki in the final pool C game at Toulouse nearly two weeks ago.
After hearing Califano's plea for clemency at Twickenham, a World Cup disciplinary panel rejected the appeal, a tournament spokesman said.
The Toulouse prop was handed the longest ban of the World Cup after the incident but was pleading for clemency in an effort to be available for Sunday's semi-final clash against new Zealand.
