Dallaglio backs home grown talent

Wasps and England star Lawrence Dallaglio has backed the use of home grown talent in the wake of rivals Saracens big money signings.

In his latest exclusive column for Scrum he says, "Its interesting to note that while Saracens has signed Tim Horan, and he is a fantastic player who we would love to have, the sides that probably contribute more to the development of home-grown players than anyone else have won the two domestic titles, Leicester and Wasps."

He also expressed disappointment at Wasps' lack of consistency during the season. "Wasps won a trophy so in that respect it was a successful season but our form was way too inconsistent in the ADP and that is what I want to prioritise next season."

Looking forward to the challenge of playing for the Barbarians Dallaglio says, "The likes of van der Westhuizen, Horan and Cullen are the best in the world and it's a great opportunity to rub shoulders with these players. Jonah Lomu is also playing and while nobody can expect me to clasp him on the shoulders and say how great that he helped the All Blacks beat us in the World Cup there is no issue between us off the pitch. All friendships are put to one side when the whistle blows and Jonah is no different."
