Check out the official preview of Tuesday's IRB Junior World Championship games including Ireland v New Zealand and England v Canada.

Pool A (Cardiff Arms Park)
7.00pm Argentina v Tonga
9.10pm Ireland v New Zealand

New Zealand will be confident of taking the next significant step towards a place in the semi finals of the Junior World Championship when they take on Ireland at Cardiff Arms Park tomorrow.

However, for the Irish, whose dream of a place in the last four was all but shattered by Friday's opening night defeat at the hands of Argentina, it is all about respect.

The All Blacks stuttered against Tonga in the first half on Friday evening before running out 48-9 winners courtesy of six second half tries at the Arms Park.

And with several of their bigger guns back for tomorrow evening's game against the green and whites, coach Dave Rennie can be justifiably confident about his side's chances of staying on top of the Pool.

Ben Afeaki, the giant tight head who tips the scales at close on 21 stones, returns to the front row with Rennie admitting that his side's considerable size provides them with a genuine advantage.

He said: "There are some big guys out there, but they are good players too.

"I think other teams will look at us and wonder if these players are as good as they are big."

And captain Chris Smith added: "It's always nice to get a good win. Tonga provided a really good opposition for us in that first half, but it showed us that we've got a lot of things to work on and by no means are we the completed product."

Ireland will certainly need to produce a more rounded performance if they are to gain the respect of the All Blacks and, hopefully, run them close.

What's more, as coach Eric Elwood points out, if they continue to miss their chances, the competition will quickly slip away from them.

He said: "We were disappointed with Friday because it was so important for us to get off to a good start. It was a very competitive game and we certainly created enough chances to win it, but we couldn't turn that pressure into points."

In the 5.00pm game, Argentina will be keen to keep the pressure on New Zealand with what should be a straightforward victory over Tonga.

Pool B (The Racecourse, Wrexham)
5.00pm Samoa v USA
7.00pm South Africa v Scotland

Junior World Championship No 2 seed South Africa will be looking for a repeat performance when they take on Scotland in their second Pool B game at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham tomorrow evening (Tuesday).

A points avalanche against the USA on Friday night provided a timely reminder of what the Springboks can offer at this level. They scored 15 tries in all -- Pieter Janse Van Vuuren helping himself to a hat trick - and will punish the Scots unless the underdogs step up a gear after losing to Samoa on Friday.

South Africa Captain Gerrit-Jan van Velze said: "We certainly started off on a good note but we're aware that we conceded two tries in the last 20 minutes of the first half. We pride ourselves in defence so we must look at this before the Scotland game."

In contrast, Scotland conceded three tries in going down 29-17 to Samoa and realise that nothing other than a water-tight defensive wall will prevent the Springboks from running wild once again.

Coach Colin Robertson said: "The scoreboard didn't reflect the game, in fact I thought the two late tries distorted the final score.

"We had worked out a good game plan for Samoa and for most of the time we frustrated them and caused them problems. But just a couple of errors cost us the match.

"Once again it comes down to errors. We can't afford to make them otherwise we will pay for it. Still, it is the best we've played all season."

Providing Scotland don't beat the fancied Springboks, Samoa can cement their place in the 5th to 8th category by upending the USA.

Samoa team manager Sami Leota: "Friday night was excellent. It was a good effort from the boys and we got what we wanted.

"We coped well with Scotland's scrum and managed to hold our own. What made the difference was our running backline."

Pool C (Rodney Parade, Newport)
5.00pm England v Canada
7.00pm Australia v Fiji

Aussie coach Brian Melrose is delighted to have got a game under his belt in the Junior World Championship, if only to help in terms of preparation for what lies ahead.

With so many of his Super 14 players having spent little or no time working with the other squad members, Friday's 81-12 victory over Canada - there were 13 tries in all - provided the perfect warm-up for the Wallabies.

And with many eyes fixed on Saturday's game against England, tomorrow's clash with Fiji at Rodney Parade, Newport, will provide even more valuable practice.

Melrose is quick to point out that he not yet thinking about Saturday's game against Nigel Redman's England team despite accepting that others believe it will settle the Pool.

Still, there is little doubt that tomorrow's game will be a useful exercise for a Wallabies' side who have already shown what they are capable of achieving.

He said: "Because of the Super 14 commitments, we actually spent zero days as a squad preparing for this competition. That is why we are trying to cram in as much work as possible.

"We were pleased with certain aspects of the game last weekend and we hope to be even better than that against Fiji tomorrow.

"We know they will provide is with a real challenge, so we have to make sure that we are on top of our game."

Meanwhile, England take on Canada in tomorrow's early Pool C game with coach Redman hoping to see his side reproduce the form they showed in the first half against Fiji four days ago.

They won that game 41-17 although the side failed to rack up a single point after half timel.

Redman has rung the changes for the side's second game, with four players making their first starts of the season whilst half a dozen more play their first game of the competition.

Bath prop Billy Moss, Northampton lock Courtney Lawes, Newcastle centre Alex Tait and Gloucester wing Charlie Sharples have not started for England Under 20 this season, whilst starting their first game of the Junior World Championship are Luke Eves (Bristol), Rob Miller (Newcastle), Ben Youngs and Gregor Gillanders (both Leicester), Joe Gray (Northampton) and Matthew Cox (Worcester).

Pool D (Liberty Stadium, Swansea)
5.00pm France v Italy
7.10pm Wales v Japan

Wales star Dan Biggar bagged his man of the match award on Friday night and sent a message to to,orow's opponents Japan - we are looking for tries.

Biggar scored a try and kicked seven points as Sam Warburton's Wales Under 20 side kicked off their Junior World Championship campaign with a 29-10 victory over Italy at the Liberty Stadium.

But Biggar, and coach Patrick Horgan, are looking for better accuracy and execution when they face Japan at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow night (Tuesday)

Biggar said, "We would have bitten off your hand at the start of the day had you have said we would finish the night with a four-try win. Having said that, we wanted to score more tries than that and we would hope to do so in our next game.

"It's tough when so much is expected of you, but to be honest we are glad to get that first one under our belt."

Horgan has made 10 changes for the game against Japan but expects no less a performance from his players. "There is no reason for these players not to perform - all 26 players in the squad are capable of earning their place in the side to face France.

"We had a number of missed try-scoring opportunities against Italy so we have been working on our execution and accuracy ahead of the Japan game. However, Italy's defence was excellent and certainly kept them in the game.

"You are always looking for improvement but we are quite pleased overall with our first performance. Japan gave a good account of themselves against France and we will certainly give the side the respect they deserve.

"The crowd supported us well on Friday night and we hope we can give them something more to shout about against Japan - and again on Saturday against France."

In the other game in the Pool, France will be looking to build on Friday's victory over Japan by beating Italy at 5.00pm to set up a potential winner-takes-all encounter between Wales and France at 5.00pm on Saturday.
