Profile

Pierre Camou is the President of the French Rugby Federation (FFR). A retired banker and General Manager of the Inchauspé bank, Camou played at lock or prop during his playing career.

Prior to his election as FFR President Camou served as Vice President and was in charge of the Centre National du Rugby (CNR) in Marcoussis. Camou also served as President of the Cote Basque - Landes rugby committee for 12 years, working with community rugby in the Basque area, although he had to relinquish his place as President following his election to the head of the FFR.

Alongside Jacques Laurens, Camou was one of the two French representatives to the IRB board and served as the interim FFR President following news of Bernard Lapasset's election to the head of the IRB.

Camou was elected with 94.53% of the vote in December 2008, and has announced that his offices will be in Marcoussis, closer to the "heart of French rugby", and that he will give more power to the clubs so that they may rely more on the local French rugby network.
