Bourgoin will take their place in the Top 14 next season after the Fédération Française de Rugby (FFR) overturned their administrative relegation on appeal.

The troubled club, who looked set to join Montauban in the wilderness, had been demoted to Fédérale 1 by French rugby's financial watchdog, DNACG, after financial guarantees were reportedly not met on time.

The club maintained throughout that they had sufficient funds to cover their season budget and took the matter to appeal, successfully arguing their case before an FFR panel.

"After reviewing the record and considering the new elements introduced by the club, the committee of appeals decided to allow the club to commit themselves to Top 14," an FFR statement read.

During last season the players accepted a 20% pay cut while 12 of their number had their playing licences blocked. Despite their off-field strife they showed admirable grit and determination throughout, picking up league wins over heavyweights Perpignan, Toulouse, Biarritz, Castres and Racing Metro, whom they beat home and away.
