Toulon flanker Joe El Abd has admitted he was left speechless by the manner of his side's 5-44 defeat against Toulouse on Saturday.

The crushing defeat at Ernest Wallon made it an October to forget for El Abd and Co, having lost each of their last three games on the road at Munster, Stade Francais and Toulouse.

"We're very disappointed by the defeat and by the fact that we conceded 44 points," El Abd told Var Matin. "It's heavy. It really is too much for a team like Toulon. It's just not acceptable. I can't really talk about the match because the Toulousains bulldozed us. We'll have to watch the video and then quickly forget about this match but I remain confident that we can do better things."

Racing Metro's 18-18 draw with Perpignan on Friday night saw both coaches unhappy at not getting more out of the game yet USAP coach Jacques Brunel will have been privately satisfied with the two points from this tough assignment at Stade Colombes.

"We're really disappointed because we were in a position to win that match," Brunel confessed to Midi Olympique. "In the last few minutes, I couldn't really see how they would be able to get back at us but we managed the situation badly. I did like however our aggression and the manner in which we played with and without the ball. We never panicked, even when Racing were really pushing us."

Meanwhile Agen gave themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the dreaded drop with a 29-14 victory over La Rochelle. It was their first Top 14 win in nine games for the newly promoted side but Agen team manager Christian Lanta warned against his players getting carried away.

"We shouldn't start dreaming all of a sudden," Lanta told Sudouest. "We were solid but then we tend to be every time we beat La Rochelle. But this game meant a lot. And the victory was especially important as they didn't get any bonus point."
