Toulon fly-half Felipe Contepomi has revealed that Thursday's 20-29 victory over Perpignan at Stade Aimé Giral could well signal a change in style from Philippe Saint-André's men.

Contepomi, who was deputising for injured England playmaker Jonny Wilkinson, coaxed a superb, expansive performance from a Toulon side who had endured a difficult October, conceding 112 points in three games.

"We spoke a lot between ourselves and we decided to play more and be more confident," Contepomi revealed in an interview with Var Matin. "During the week of training, we tried to play and be more dynamic and it worked in the match."

Montpellier, the surprise package for many in this season's championship, kept up the heat on leaders Toulouse with a 35-9 win over Brive at Stade Yves du Manoir. Winger Timoci Nagusa finished with a brace of tries and fly-half Santiago Fernandez and No.8 Masi Matadigo scored in a frantic last ten minutes for Fabien Galthie's side. Fullback Martin Bustos contributed 15 points from the kicking tee.

"We're happy. We won, we got the bonus point," Galthie told l'Equipe. "We've been able to keep some continuity despite the number of injured. I'm happy with everything we've achieved since the start of the season."

While bottom placed Bourgoin lost heavily at home to Toulouse (11-35), their relegation rivals Agen picked up their second consecutive win in a hard fought 21-20 win over high-flying Racing Metro at Stade Armandie.

"We gave it everything," Agen prop Arsène Nnomo told Midi Olympique."Our defence was great and in even in attack we tried some interesting things. Valentin [Courrent] helped us by kicking well too. We were under a lot of pressure. We knew that Racing would be strong and that we'd have to take them on up front and beat them. And we did."
