France international Freddie Michalak has confirmed he will be leaving Toulouse at the end of the season.

The club had reportedly offered to extend the 28-year-old's contract but only if he agreed to play as a scrum-half. Michalak, who won 58 caps for France, confirmed he would be leaving the club in the summer but has yet to reveal his next destination.

"This is not a decision that is taken in five minutes," he said. "I'm leaving for good. I hope to bounce back elsewhere, in France or abroad."

The fly-half has struggled to regain his place in the Toulouse starting XV after returning from a stint with the Sharks in the Currie Cup in 2008. Michalak's position came under increasing pressure when Toulouse announced last week that former France fly-half Lionel Beauxis, Waratahs scrum-half Luke Burgess and All Black Luke McAlistair, who can play at centre and fly-half, had all agree to join the club next season.

Michalak won one French title and two European Cups with the club and Toulouse are again in contention for domestic and European success this season, as they lead the French Top 14 and prepare for a Heineken Cup semi-final against Leinster on Saturday.
