Argentina fly-half Felipe Contepomi has confirmed he is to join Stade Francais on a two-year contract from Toulon.

The 33-year-old fly-half, who has won 65 caps for the Pumas, will be reunited with Stade coach Michael Cheika under whom he won the 2009 Heineken Cup with Leinster.

Contepomi comes in to replace Lionel Beauxis who has joined Toulouse and joins fellow Argentines Pedro Ledesma, Juan Martin Leguizamon, Martin Rodriguez, Rodrigo Roncero, Gonzalo Tiesi in the Top 14 side's ranks.

"Going to Paris is a great challenge," Contepomi said. "The team is being rebuilt with a coach that I know well. It will be a big test and I go there with the hope of bringing Stade Fran├žais bag to the top in Europe.

"I'll always be thankful to Toulon for allowing me to undergo my rehabilitation [after a serious knee injury] but in pure rugby terms [going there] wasn't the best choice. It's an unstable club because of the attitude of their president and the style of play, which doesn't suit me. But every experience is good for learning."

Contepomi struggled to oust England's Jonny Wilkinson from the No.10 shirt in his two years at the club and Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has once again undergone a spending spree which will see Australia playmaker Matt Giteau join the squad after the World Cup.
