Australian fullback Luke Rooney has ditched the Melbourne Rebels after just one season in order to re-sign with Toulon.

The former Penrith Panthers rugby league winger spent two years with Toulon after crossing codes, opting for a switch to the Rebels in June 2010 after a deal to join Worcester fell through due to the club's relegation from the Premiership.

Rooney has played 10 times for the Rebels to date but will return to the Stade Mayol next season on a two-year deal, where he will be joined by Castres scrum-half Sebastien Tillous-Borde

Toulon also confirmed that former Gloucester hooker Olivier Azam will take charge of the club's forwards during the next campaign. The French international, who was released by the Cherry and Whites in May, replaces Aubin Hueber in the role.

Azam played under Toulon boss Philippe Saint-Andre at Gloucester, also winning 10 France caps and spending a number of seasons in the Top 14 with Clermont Auvergne.
