Jack injury blow for Crusaders

Chris Jack's return to Crusaders colours has been delayed by injury

- A wrist injury will rule Crusaders lock Chris Jack out of the first month of the Super 14.
Veteran All Black Jack, who has returned to New Zealand after a two-year stint playing in England and South Africa, is unlikely to play until early March following wrist surgery. "He's well and truly on track. Initially we didn't think we were going to see him back until April," commented coach Todd Blackadder.
The 31-year-old is one of several high profile names missing from the 26-man team for the Crusaders' pre-season opener against the Queensland Reds at Brisbane's Ballymore on Friday with the majority of the side's All Blacks contingent expected to return for the opening match against the Highlanders in Christchurch on February 13.
- Prince Harry is to become a vice patron of the RFU. He will take up the role from February 6, when England face Wales at Twickenham. His brother, Prince William, is a vice patron of the Welsh Rugby Union. Prince Harry will also become patron of the RFU's Injured Players' Foundation.
- London Irish defence coach Dave Ellis has signed a one-year contract extension with the Guinness Premiership club. Ellis joined the Exiles at the beginning of last season on a one-year deal but has opted to extend until 2010-11, also keeping his position as France's defensive guru.
"I am delighted to be staying at London Irish," he said. "On returning to Premiership rugby in England, I wanted to be part of a club that has real determination and ambition, London Irish is one of the most driven teams I have ever worked with. This is something that has impressed me the most since joining and I have no doubt that we are going places."
- Ospreys scrum-half Liam Davies has joined Championship side London Welsh on a loan deal until the end of the season.
