Stade Francais cemented their lead at the top of the French Top 14 with a 37-16 victory over Brive on Saturday - their fifth successive victory of the campaign.

However the victory came at a cost for the Paris-based side whoare set to be without backrow forward Juan-Manuel Leguizamon for a few weeks after he was temporarily knocked unconscious during the game. The Argentinian international suffered the injury just short of the hour mark following a high tackle from Brive centre Sukanaivalu Hufanga who was subsequently given his marching orders.

The incident over-shadowed the win that saw the Top 14 pace-setters score four tries through Dave Vainqueur, two from Juan Martin Hernandez, and Franck Montanella.

The defeat leaves Brive rooted to the bottom of the table with just two draws and four points to their name.

Perpignan remained on the tail of Stade Francais following a narrow 5-3 victory over Montpellier. A try from Maxime Mermoz was enough to see off Montpellier whose points came courtesy of a Federico Todeschini penalty.

Bayonne bounced back to winning ways with a 19-15 victory over Mont de Marsan with Fijian Filimone Bolavucu grabbing the host's only try of the game.

Toulouse recorded the biggest win of the weekend with a 41-10 triumph over Montauban.

Flyhalf David Skrela weighed in with 14 points while Yves Donguy, Maxime Medard and Virgile Lacombe all notched tries.

Toulon notched their second win of the campaign with a 15-9 win over Bourgoin thanks to tries from Clement Imbert and Joe Van Niekerk.

Castres finally broke their duck with a 12-6 victory over Clermont Auvergne while Biarritz failed to apply pressure on the leaders after going down 30-18 to Dax on Friday night.

Two tries from Neumi Nanuku and another from Antoine Vignau-Tuquet gave Dax their first home win of the season, with Vignau-Tuquet converting all three and adding three more penalties to secure the victory.

Biarritz centre Romain Cabannes touched down for the visitors, with Valentin Courrent adding another in the closing stages.
