Button slams Caterham duo for ignoring blue flags

Jenson Button was left fuming at Caterham's two drivers after the German Grand Prix, blaming them for the position he lost to Lewis Hamilton on the final lap.

Unseen on the TV world feed, Button claimed the pair blocked him while he was trying to keep Hamilton's Mercedes at bay and he believes it cost him fifth place.

"I was really hoping to get fifth there but the Caterhams destroyed that," he said. "When you get blue flags you move over, but every time I tried to put it up the inside they just turned in. It's a shame when it costs you so much, because those points could be really important to us in the championship.

"We're lapping them and they should let us past. It's something they need to learn I think. I've spoken to them both and they don't think they did anything wrong - different views."

But Button took positives from McLaren's pace on track after two races without scoring points.

"In terms of the whole race, our pace was reasonably good and it was nice to be racing with the Mercedes. Our pace wasn't too bad compared to the guys at the front either so I think we should be happy with today. This is points that we really need right now after some difficult races. A good weekend as a whole and I think we got the best out of the car today."
