Open champion Darren Clarke has been drawn with compatriots Justin Rose and Robert Rock in the group stages for the Volvo World Match Play Championship, which gets underway on Thursday.

Clarke's drop to 70th in the world rankings meant he was one of eight 'outsiders' in the 24-player field drawn alongside the 16 seeded players.

Ian Poulter, the defending champion, will take on young Englishman Tom Lewis and Australian John Senden at the Finca Cortesin venue near Marbella.

Lewis earned his appearance in this week's event by virtue of his victory at the Portugal Masters in only his third professional outing. He also led The Open as an amateur last July.

Yorkshireman Richard Finch will also participate after his third-place finish at the China Open last month, as top two Branden Grace and Nicolas Colsaerts were already qualified.

World number 218 Finch will be the lowest-ranked player in the tournament, and he will encounter top seed Martin Kaymer.
