Rory McIlroy has insisted his troubles on the course are not related to his private life, amid claims his relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki is on the rocks.

McIlroy and Wozniacki have been virtually inseparable since getting together last year, with the pair spotted regularly at each other's events.

But reports of a split have surfaced in recent weeks, with some suggesting the pair's respective struggles are down to their relationship.

McIlroy infamously walked off the course mid-way through his second round at the Honda Classic last week, while Wozniacki was recently beaten by the world No. 186 in Malaysia.

World No. 1 McIlroy - who has apologise for his walk off and says he is working hard on his game - claims he is aware of the reports, but says his relationship with Wozniacki is as strong as ever.

"Just because I have a bad day on the golf course and Caroline loses a match in Malaysia does not mean we are breaking up," McIlory said.

"I would rather keep my private life as private as possible, but everything on that front it is all great and I am looking forward to seeing her when she gets to Miami."
