Guan Tianlang feels he will need to make plenty of birdies if he is to make the cut at this week's Zurich Classic.

Guan is one of the hottest prospects in golf and the teenager's stock is on the rise after he made the cut at the Masters.

The 14-year-old has been handed a sponsor's invite to tee it up in New Orleans and it will enable him to gain more experience of life at the top of the sport.

It is another long track, 7,341 yards, and TPC Louisiana will pose a real challenge for a player who averaged 250 yards off the tee at Augusta.

Guan's superb showing at the Masters was based on his fine putting, he ranked No. 1 for the week, and he is looking for a repeat scenario in New Orleans.

"I want to enjoy the week like in the Masters and, hopefully, make the cut," Guan said. "If not, it's still a great experience. I hope to play good scores out there."

Asked if he will need to make more birdies in order to make the cut, Guan said: "Probably. It's a challenging golf course, but it depends on the weather and where they put the tees and the pins. So it's not an easy week too.

"I think this is also a big course for me. I need to putt it good I think. And I should play really good woods to make the cut and go further, but I still need to play a really good couple of rounds."
