Brandt Snedeker finished with a two-under score of 70 in his final round at Glen Abbey to win the Canadian Open by three shots.

Snedeker took the overnight lead after Hunter Mahan withdrew from the tournament when informed his wife had gone into labour.

American Snedeker carded four birdies and two bogeys to keep the advantage over the chasing field and pick up his second title of the year - his sixth win on the PGA Tour.

His other victory this season came at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February.

William McGirt scored a four-under 68 to finish joint-second, along with compatriots Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, and Jason Bohn.

England's Greg Owen could not capitalise on his third round charge, dropping back to ten-under overall following his round of 73.

Elsewhere, Ernie Els hit 70 to finish on eight-under for the tournament while Graeme McDowell withdrew before his final visit.
