Fitzpatrick wins US Amateur title
Matt Fitzpatrick says he has earned himself a ticket to "golfing heaven" by qualifying for the Masters after becoming the first Englishman to win the US Amateur Championship for 102 years.
Fitzpatrick, 18, took a 4 & 3 victory over Australian Oliver Goss to qualify for Augusta in 2014, as well as the Open and US Open.
"As everyone says, Augusta is golfing heaven and to get in the other majors is unbelievable as well," Fitzpatrick said. "It's virtually impossible to get a game at Augusta. This was my best opportunity."
Harold Hilton was the last Englishman to win the tournament, in 1911, with Scotland's Richie Ramsay triumphing in 2006.
