Play at the BMW Championship has been suspended until Monday following persistent heavy rain and a waterlogged course at Conway Farms.

Only six players managed to finish their final round in Lake Forest, including Brits Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood, as play was suspended numerous times on Sunday.

Defending BMW champion McIlroy matched his third round by carding a successive three-under-par 68 to finish seven-over for the tournament.

Following opening rounds of 78 and 77 and a failure to finish inside the top eight, the Northern Irishman has been eliminated from the FedEx Cup Playoffs and will not feature at the Tour Championship later in September.

Westwood continued to play despite his injury and shot a three-over 74, finishing his four rounds at 12-over. In the projected standings, Westwood drops out of the top 30 and would therefore miss proceedings at East Lake.

Dustin Johnson went round in 72, dropping to nine-over for the tournament. The American remains just inside the top 30 standings, but all is set to change when the rest of the field return to complete their rounds on Monday.

Kevin Chappell, Charley Hoffman and Scott Piercy also managed to complete their final rounds but, like McIlroy, the trio have been eliminated.

Jim Furyk leads the tournament at 13-under, with Steve Stricker one shot behind at 12-under. World No. 1 Tiger Woods is poised at nine-under ahead of his final visit.
