Des Moines to host 2017 Solheim Cup
The 2017 Solheim Cup will be played at Des Moines Golf & Country Club.
The ladies equivalent of the Ryder Cup was held in Colorado last month, with Lotte Neumann's side becoming the first European team to win on American soil in the competition's history.
The US will have a chance to make amends at St Leon-Rot Golf Club, Germany, in 2015, before the match play event returns to the US and, more specifically, central Iowa.
LPGA commissioner Michael Whan said revealed Iowa's history of supporting major golf events - most notably the 250,000 fans the course drew for the Senior US Open in 1999 - played a key role in its selection.
"In 2017, we're going to blow the standard out of the water of what a Solheim Cup should be," he said.
"That's going to come from a course. That's going to come from a city. That's going to come from a state. Most importantly, that's going to come from a people that respect the game and respect the country."
