Kirk survives last hole drama to secure title
Despite enduring a manic back nine, Chris Kirk held on to record victory at the McGladrey Classic by a single stroke.
Kirk finished with a four-under-par round of 66 - his third of the event - to end the tournament 14-under overall, one shot ahead of Tim Clark and joint-overnight leader Briny Baird.
Kirk and Baird were tied for the lead on the 18th tee at Sea Island, but the latter topped his shot out of a fairway bunker and into the water. Baird had to settle for bogey, his only dropped shot in a round of 67, as Kirk held his nerve to make par for the win.
Victory will also send Kirk to The Masters for the first time in his career.
Clark scored a marvellous eight-under round of 62 to share second with Baird, carding nine birdies and a solitary bogey in his visit while Brian Gay, Scott Brown and John Senden all finished at 12-under following final rounds of 67,66 and 67 respectively.
Webb Simpson and Matt Kuchar both ended their tournaments on 10-under, while Swede Robert Karlsson hit a five-under 65 to finish eight-under after his four rounds.
Scotland's Russell Knox was the highest placed Brit, finishing two-under overall to tie for 36th place. Darren Clarke dropped back from even-par to four-over after his round of 74.
