Manley edged himself to the top of a tightly-packed leaderboard, where 13 players lie within four shots of the leader. Among their number is defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez, lurking two back after hitting 65 for a joint-best score of the day.

The 34-year-old Manley, who last month followed a hole-in-one with a an 11 at the World Cup, is 10 under following a round including six birdies and two bogeys.

"Pretty much from the first hole onwards, every iron shot was right down the pin," said Manley. "If it had been a good day on the greens it could have been a really low round, so it was disappointing not to capitalise, but I feel very confident the way I'm playing and I'm really excited about Sunday.

"I wanted to be leading after three rounds, and I wanted to be in the last group, so I'm delighted. There's a lot of golf left, but winning would mean the world."

India's Shiv Kapur and Wade Ormsby of Australia are one shot back after shooting the same score on Saturday.

Jimenez sits at eight under alongside compatriot Jose Manuel Lara and England's Steve Webster. Joel Sjoholm, Alex Cejka and Prom Meesawat are a further shot back.

Four bogeys and a double in a three-over 73 all but ended overnight leader Jbe Kruger's hopes, leaving him six shots backs in a tie for 21st place.
