Westwood's lead cut to one in Malaysia

Lee Westwood saw his commanding lead at the Malaysian Open cut to just one shot by compatriot Andy Sullivan on Saturday.

With a four-shot lead at the halfway stage at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Westwood moved five clear after five holes of his third round.

But Westwood could only find one more birdie and bogeyed the 18th to finish with a 71 at 14 under, narrowly in front of Sullivan who shot 66.

"It was tricky out there," said Westwood, who is eyeing a 13th win in Asia and the 41st of his career. "I didn't play as well as I did the first two days, but there were some difficult flags and it was really hot.

"That's as hot as I've been on a golf course for quite some time. It was a real grind, but I'm leading going into the last round so I'm quite happy with that."

A 69 including seven birdies and four bogeys saw France's Julien Quesne move four shots off the lead with Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts a shot back after hitting 72.

Italy's Matteo Manassero celebrated his 21st birthday with his best round of the tournament, a 67 to sit in a tie for 14th at six under.

Defending champion Kiradech Aphibarnrat was forced to pull out ahead of the third round because of inflammation of his tonsils.

There were no sign of the hornets that attacked Pablo Larrazabal on the 14th hole during Friday's second round, forcing the Spaniard to jump into a water hazard. Larrazabal shot a 70 to sit tied for 23rd at four under.
