Lucy Li will make Women's US Open history when the 11-year-old becomes the youngest player to participate in the tournament.

Li earned her way into the event by shooting rounds of 74 and 68 on the par-72 Old Course at Half Moon Bay in a sectional qualifier in California on Monday. She beat second-place qualifier Kathleen Scavo by seven strokes.

From Redwood Shores, California, Li already has a victory at Augusta under her belt, having won her age group in the first annual Drive, Chip and Putt Championship held before the Masters in April.

Last year, Li made it to the US Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and shot one round at one under but missed the cut.

Lexi Thompson (12 years, 4 months, 18 days) previously held the record for youngest to qualify for the Women's US Open, doing so in 2007.

This year's event will be take place June 19-22 at Pinehurst.
