Fabrizio Zanotti survived a dramatic four-man play-off to claim his first European Tour victory in the BMW International Open.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Gregory Havret, Henrik Stenson and Zanotti had all finished tied on 19 under after Sunday's final round in Cologne.

Havret then edged out on the second extra hole before Cabrera-Bello fell on the fourth, with Zanotti finally seeing off Stenson on the fifth after the world No.2 sent his tee shot into the water before pitching into a bunker and conceding.

Zanotti, who hit a final-round 65, becomes the first Paraguayan to win on the European Tour.

"I was patient. I tried to play shot-by-shot in the play-off. I'm just very happy," said Zanotti, who finished 14th at the Irish Open and fifth at Lyoness Open on his last two starts.

"I've really been playing very good the last few weeks so I knew today that if I make a good round I would have a good chance.

"Maybe today was my day. I've been working a lot and trying to build my confidence to get to this moment and finally I'm here."
